Course Description
This qualification is nationally recognized. It aims to prepare students to work in a professional capacity within human services organizations at government and non-government levels. The course specialises in counseling skills and has compulsory field placements which provide students with significant on the job training. The course is most suited to those who enjoy working with people. Careers in community
welfare are richly rewarding and demanding. Interpersonal skills, empathy, tolerance and a degree of flexibility are valuable assets for those wishing to work in this field.
The community welfare sector provides for a range of career opportunities. Graduates are usually involved in service delivery such as direct client work, well-being promotion or community development projects.

Course Outcomes:
Graduates work at an advanced level of skills and may have responsibilities for supervision of other staff and volunteers. On completion of this course, graduates may be eligible to apply for university level studies in social welfare, social work or social sciences with majors in counseling, mediation, community development or human resources. Those interested in further studies in psychology, education or
nursing may also be eligible to apply.
