Student Visa

Arranging a Student VISA

International students wanting to study in Australia require a student visa, which will remain valid for the duration of their studies.  Some other visa holders are also eligible to study as international students in Australia.  Many students apply for a visa themselves on-line or via the Australian Diplomatic Mission in their country.  The visa application process can be complicated and for students from some countries it may be better to submit an application with the assistance of an accredited education agent. Please check with our accredited agents in your country. Education agents are engaged by KAPS to assist with applications.

To obtain a student visa, follow these steps:

  1. Select a visa:  A number of student visas are available depending on your course of study. You need to apply for the one that is most suitable to you.
  2. Identify your assessment level:  Each country has a different assessment level.
  3. Ensure that you meet the minimum language requirements:  Prospective students from a category 3 or 4 assessment level countries require the provision of an IELTS test in order to be eligible for a visa. For more information on KAPS English Language Courses, please visit our website at  www.kaps.edu.au.
  4. Understand your visa conditions:  Do not breach your visa conditions as it may result in your visa being cancelled. For a list of visa conditions, you can visit the DIAC website at www.immi.gov.au.

The Australian Government’s Department of Immigration and Citizenship (the DIAC) provides comprehensive information about student visa requirements and the application process, as well as application document checklists to assist you with your application.  Visit www.immi.gov.au/students/index.htm for the latest information.
