KAPS is committed to providing a safe, secure and supportive learning environment for all students. Whilst Australia is a safe destination, and a great place in which to live and study, it is important for any newly arrived people to understand their environment and to take precautionary measures to ensure well being and positive experiences. To ensure the safety of our students we provide the following services:

  1. Emergency after hours numbers
  2. Pre-departure information
  3. Written information on safety tips
  4. Community based Guest Speakers at Orientation (e.g. Queensland and Victoria Police; Metropolitan Fire Brigade; Consulates; Consumer Affairs)
  5. Confidential counseling and student support services
  6. Referrals to appropriate external agencies
Emergency after hours numbers
  • Police, ambulance and fire brigade   000 (free call)
    In any emergency you should dial 000. The operator will ask for which service you require (police, fire brigade, ambulance) and will ask for your full name and address and the nature of the emergency incident.
  • Overseas Worldcare 24-hour Emergency Helpline   1800 814 781 (free call)
    OSHC Worldcare has a 24 hour emergency helpline to assist with medical, legal and interpreting services
  • Victims of Crime Helpline       1800 819 817 (free call)
    If you have become a victim of crime this can be a frightening experience. It is important to get help quickly to prevent long term consequences.
  • International Student Legal Advice (ISLAC)
    This service is open on limited hours but is free. ISLAC provides advice on any legal issues related to employment, student rights and victims of crime
  • International Student Care Service (ISCS)       1800 056 449 (free call)
    ISCS provides advice, information, support and referrals to local and community resources. It assists with:
    • Crisis intervention and support
    • Accommodation and housing issues
    • Legal matters
    • Health services
    • Social isolation
  • Consulate services
