Students are welcome to make an appointment with the Student Counselor or Director of Studies. Staff are able to assist you with effective strategies to enhance learning or refer you to the appropriate services.
KAPS is strongly committed to ensuring students achieve success towards their learning goals. This is evident in the following ways:
- Our teaching staff receive professional development focused on teaching strategies for international students. Staff learn about a range of sophisticated teaching techniques which are research based. Every learner learns differently and our teaching practices reflect this.
- We have a commitment to the development of the English Language for all students. Increased English language competencies are vital for success in a global economy. English is also important in social integration into a new country.
- We organize a range of workshops in the classroom which are tailored and integrated with the units being taught. These workshops may focus on writing skills, reading comprehension, avoiding plagiarism, referencing correctly, test-taking skills or working in groups effectively
- Extra individualized tuition is also organized for students who may require extra support as part of their Intervention Plans. For example, it may be extra tuition in English with the English language department staff.
- Provision of Tip Sheets and written Learning Resources or referrals to websites with excellent e- learning and study materials
